  • What will happen during the 15 minute consultation call?
During the consultation I encourage you to ask me any questions you might have. Additionally, we’ll discuss challenges or goals you might have or what you would like to explore in therapy. We will also work to identify if we'll be a good match, including if I have open appointment times that will work with your schedule.
  • Are therapy sessions in person or via telehealth?
For the health and safety of all patients and their families, all sessions are offered via telehealth (Zoom) at this time. For North Carolina patients, in-person sessions will be available in the coming months depending on updated health and safety protocols
  • How long will I (or my child/family) be in therapy?
The answer to this question is typically most associated with each patient's circumstances, goals, dedication to the process, and motivation for change. You are unique and therefore your therapeutic treatment will be unique to you and your goals. My hope is to help you achieve those goals and we will work together to develop a treatment plan that works for you.
  • How frequently will we meet?
When first starting to work with an individual or family, I typically like to meet weekly for at least the first two months. I find that meeting weekly allows us to gain therapeutic traction, develop a therapeutic relationship, and address client’s presenting concerns most efficiently.
  • If I am looking for therapy services for my child, how involved will I be?
I believe that parents and caregivers are instrumental in supporting positive change for any child, adolescent, or teen. I encourage parents and caregivers to schedule sessions (parent-only sessions) on a regular basis as part of a client's treatment and will work with your family to identify how often this may be helpful. There may also be oportunities for parents to join a session with their child to support goal development, review progress, and build skills.
  • What will I "do" in therapy?"
The answer to this question is also unique to you. I will tailer your treatment plan to support your goals. At times this will include helpful homework or fun experiments aimed to support positive change. At other times, we may simply sit and talk. My best advice for anyone looking to start therapy is to ask for what you want. Therapy is meant to be helpful and so if you believe one thing would be more helpful than the next, share that information with your therapist!
  • Do you take insurance?
At this time, I accept Aetna, Optum, and Cigna Insurance Providers for NY, NC, and FL residents. I accept Empire BCBS for NY residents only. If your plan does not fall within network with these providers, we are able to navigate this challenge collaboratively. I am happy to provide you with a form ("Superbill") to send to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. That means you’re responsible for the fees at the time of our appointment and, depending on your plan, a certain percentage of that may be paid to you by your insurance company. I encourage you to call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out what your “out-of-network” benefits are and what the best address is for "superbills."
  • What is the cancellation policy?
Your appointment time has been reserved just for you. If you need to cancel/reschedule, I ask that you let me know at least 24 hours before your session time. If you do not attend your appointment, or you cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, you will be required to pay the full session fee ($100 for individuals and $115 for couples or family sessions). If you are using your insurance to pay for therapy, this “missed appointment” fee will not be covered by insurance and the payment method associated with your account will be charged the full fee.
